Tablet 285

description 79 x 34 mm.
A fragment containing the closure of a letter with part of the address on the back. There is no conclusive evidence that this belongs to the correspondence of Cerialis. It is included because the address possibly indicates that it was from Brocchus and because the hand in which the closure is written might be the same as the second hand in 247 and 248.

Front.1. This might begin ual]e or opto t]e, or bene ualer]e. The reading of domine is not certain (the ligature of om looks odd).

Back.3. a Broc[cho is a possible reading, in which case the hand of lines 1-2 on the front will be the same as the second hand of 248 and probably 247 (see 248.ii.12-4 note); alternatively, ab could be taken as the preposition.
